This video will make you sob and touch you at the same time. 99 Balloons.

This weekend marks a year that we have been here in Oregon.Regrets? None.

Oregon to me is home in a way I never felt at home in my native south.Oh, I will always be a southerner too but in my heart Oregon is the home of my soul. I know to a lot of people all they think of is rain when you think of the Northwest but to me it is so much more. I feel my heart give wing when I see the foggy coastal clouds touching the tips of the majestic Doug Firs and Coastal Redwoods like the cloak of heaven touching earth, or the sound of the Pacific touching the rocky coastline like Neptunes clock.I am always amazed by the bounty of the Willamette Valley or the Grandeur of the Cascades. It seems around every turn and on every back road I travel we find hidden treasures. You have to love a place and a town such as I live in that has streets named for wines, clouds, songbirds and mountains and where kids still sell lemonade and flower bouquets from roadside stands along the highways and where local farmers sell farm fresh eggs from stands by the side of the road that you pay by the honor system.

It makes me happy and I stand in awe of the Sheer Natural Beauty of the Northwest from Mt. Ranier and Hood, Puget Sound to the ever changing Mt. St Helens and the Columbia River Gorge .I love living closer to two of my favorite cities San Francisco and Seattle beauties in their own right. The area east of the Cascades is just a beautiful too and such a haungtingly beautiful place also.

I find the people here to be just as nice and friendly as the south.

I guess you can say this is my love song of sorts for the landscape of the place that my soul will always call home no matter where I lay my head.

This is how I feel about British Columbia which is very similar to Oregon. Only I could have never expressed it so eloquently :) The Pacific Northwest is where I long to be because that's where my soul belongs and feels at home. I don't know why this is, it just is. Just a few more years :)

Thank you for commenting on my post. I was excited to meet a new friend. Those photos are fabulous. I feel about Missouri the way you feel about Oregon, aren't we lucky to live in a place we love?

I feel the same way about all of the Pacific Northwest, but I do also love Oregon. I cried over 99 balloons. Thanks for sharing.

I'm so glad you're happy here! I am a born and bred Oregon girl and was unhappy for the 11 years I was away. I am ecstatic to be back home in Oregon. Even though my actual hometown is on the other side of the state, I'm still HOME!

A hearty WELCOME HOME and happy one year anniversary from one Oregon girl to another...

Hello Yolanda, thank you for visiting my blog and letting me know about other book swapping websites.

Your description of Oregon sounds wonderful; I love the Isle of Mull especailly the south west peninsula overlooking Iona where I live. When I first came here I felt as though I was 'coming home' even though I had never been here before. People think a small Hebridean island off the northwest coast of Scotland is going to be wet, wet & wet! This is so not true - when they visit they too fall in love with the scenery, the wilderness, the rugged landscape, the isolation, the colours and the peace.
Thanks for sharing your photos and your thoughts.

Ah! You're making my heart ache with the thought of it. My desktop on my computer is Mt. Rainer. It is my most special mountain in the whole world. And I love the Pacific Northwest- I would like to spend more time there.

Yolanda -
Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving your sweet comment. We've only been home from the coast for a few days and we are ready to go back!

Welcome to Oregon - congratulations on your 1st anniversary here. You described our home state beautifully. There is something for everyone here. This is truly a place where my soul is at home, too.

Hi Yolanda,
thanks for visiting my blog. your description of the northwest coast caused me to choke up believe it or not! I too feel the draw to that type of place, although circumstances mean that I live elsewhere. I've always been somewhat of a gypsy, and have lived several places...but to walk along a misty shore, near the rocky crags and tidepools, wearing a warm sweater, hearing the call of the gulls and the crash of the waves.... :))
