My Sacred Life

I took this photo a year ago across the county road from my house. It is just a common weed in Mississippi where I grew up and lived most of my life before moving here. I remember thinking when I took this photo that most people never see the beauty of these little flowers. I try in my everday life to stop and look at the ordinary and the everday and see the beauty within both things and people. So imagine my surprise when Lissa chose this picture for my blog header. I really like it a lot because it seems to visually show my philosophy of life in a nutshell that each day is a gift and even the smallest things the world sees as insignificant like a roadside weed can be beautifully Perfectly Imperfect.Oddly enough if I had been asked to chose a flower to represent me as a person it would be a wildflower and not the refined rose.

Thanks so much to Lissa for the new look and her kind heart.

This is part of My Sacred Life

"There is no language in the holy. The Sacred lies in the Ordinary."-Deng Ming-Dao

I thought this quote really went with the theme of todays post and the picture.

Looking forward to the weekend.I have to work 2 12 hour shifts the next two days.

Peace, Y'all

Hi, Although I am new to your blog I like the new look-and when you look at your blog every day I am sure the flowers will make you feel peaceful-even if they are weed-liked knowing the story behind the picture. Thanks for checking out my blog.

really lovely update to your site. I am fond of wildflowers myself, they remind me of everything that is wild and beautiful in this life.

Comforting flowers, to see them come back each year I imagine. I'm from Mississippi myself and remember fondly the few wildflowers not mowed down by the city, county or state.

Thanks for looking at the red church doors.

I'm really pleased to hear more about your new blog's new look and the story of the wildflowers.

Hope the 12 hour shifts weren't too bad.

I like the "new" look although I hadn't seen the old look before this week. I like how they turned the original sideways for the background and then focused on the one in the circle on a top layer.

Yes, the sacred is in the ordinary. I reflected on this the other day when I talked about spiritual treasures.

While I never saw the previous version, this design for your blog is so clean, simple and beautiful that I voted for it wholeheartedly.

I found you thanks to My Sacred Life, and I'm glad I did!

Love the new look Yolanda. I have a little sign in my garden that says "May all my weeds be wild flowers".

It's all a matter of perspective and I think you have it just right.

I love the header. And the space feels open for sharing in the spirit of all that is good. Ready to bloom.

Your blog header is beautiful. I love roadside flowers too.
Their simplicity is what I find most attractive. They are independent and strong, two good character traits in any living thing.

Love the flower photo! (and the way you did a cutout to focus the eye for the header....nicely done!) Your blog name is a great reminder that the things we see in nature are beautiful because they are not 'perfect'...but stand solid in their differences. We should all be so smart!
