SkyWatch Friday

This is a photo of Elk Lake in the Oregon Cascades for Skywatch Friday.

"O hushed October morning mild,
Thy leaves have ripened to the fall;
Tomorrow's wind, if it be wild,
Should waste them all.
The crows above the forest call;
Tomorrow they may form and go.
O hushed October morning mild,
Begin the hours of this day slow.
Make the day seem to us less brief.
Hearts not averse to being beguiled,
Beguile us in the way you know.
Release one leaf at break of day;
At noon release another leaf;
One from our trees, one far away."
- Robert Frost, October

OH!! This makes me miss Oregon so much! We've been in Missouri for nearly 10 years and I still miss Oregon. We lived in Jefferson, near Salem. You know it?

Looking at this picture it's difficult to believe there's global warming or acid rain or pollution, etc. This is nature at in one of her stunning poses!

The Northwest has THE most beautiful scenery! I should know, since we lived in Vancouver, BC for 8 years. I miss the lakes and forests a lot sometimes.
Glad you came for a visit on my blog and hope to see you there again some time. I have added you to my reader and will be back.

Ah, yes, the High Lakes of the Oregon Cascades. As you know, we were at a nearby Elk Lake just a few weeks ago. Yesterday when I heard the first snow had fallen in the Cascades I thought of that area and wondered about the beauty now that it is frosted with snow. Wouldn't it be wonderful to see it? Thanks for sharing your photo with us. ~Adrienne~

this is sooo blue, so perfectly blue!! a beautiful vision of the mountain i'd say.

p.s. the graveyard is the Pioneer Cemetery in Oregon City. Full of history and old graves. the oldest cemetery in oregon. the building is on highway 30 on the way to sauvie's island. if you have ever been on that road you will have seen it. it looks haunted and derelict and full of stories.
hello from the north!

Gorgeous photo and thanks for the Robt. Frost poem in honor of this great time of year. . .I still remember him reciting a poem at JFK's inauguration and someone holding a hat in front of his notes because the sun was so bright.
Nice to visit you again :O)
