Storms of Life

storm at crater lake

Do you ever feel tossed about like a leaf in a storm? I think we all do sometime and I know that for most of this year that is how I have felt.

I knowthat even though the skies are dark and sometimes I can't see the light at the end of the tunnel I am much stronger than I thought I was and that no matter what happens I will make it to the other side.

I am one of those people who feel that no matter what situation you find yourself in that it has something to teach you and from this rough patch in my life I have learned a lot.

Lessons Learned:

*home cooked is most always better than takeout and better for you
*family and friends are life's greatest treasures
*a strong marriage is worth it's weight in gold
*that sometime the most beautiful place on earth is right in your own back yard.
*I feel closest to God in nature and the natural world.
*that material things tend to weigh you down in life
*that new isn't always best
* that having a job is a blessing
*that smiles and thank you's go a long way.

I want to return here and start blogging more in the fall and winter and to share what a lovely part of the world I live in and learn from each of you who visit here.

I hope that with the fall leaves that drift down that a lot of the fear and stress that has resided within me the past year will slowly release and let go and that come springtime I will feel renewed.

The moment one gives close attention to anything, even a blade of grass, it becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world in itself."

I've had a stress filled and, at times, sad year. I think it has taught me things about myself that I wouldn't have learned any other way.
I love Fall, it is a beautiful season. The colours and scents are some of my favourites as well.
Your 'lessons learned' are excellent, so your year has not been in vain. Life hands us these challenges for a reason.

Yolanda,

I could have written this post--but not nearly as well as you! I too feel that there is something to be learned in every situation we go through in life. The lesson may just be to persevere and the strength may come just from weathering life's storms. But to gain compassion and empathy for others through the journey is a blessing.

I love you list of lessons learned ~ and indeed life does often leave one feeling a bit tossed about like a leaf in the wind!

Many blessings to you!

I think you created a wonderful list...and so true. I'm sorry your life has been stressful lately. There was a time a few years ago that I wondered if I would ever feel truly happy again...and I do. Things do have a way of getting better, somehow.

You are of the same school of thought as I am -- that black clouds do have silver linings...and if not silver, at least they are bright enough that we know the cloud won't last forever. It's about choice and knowing that something good can come from something bad, that negative can become positive and having the attitude that tomorrow brings a fresh start. Wishing you joy and comfort as you go forward.

Here's to renewed strength and to looking forward. It's the only direction that works. Best wishes, my blog friend!

You expressed this so beautifully...Life is full of all sorts, so much contrasts. It makes it hard sometimes, but also interesting too--if we can see the joy between it all. Here's to peace, love and joy... :o)

Beautiful post, Yolanda! My year, like yours and so many others, has been tossing me around as well. And yes, I so agree that the hardships and trials that we face do teach us and make us stronger and wiser so that we may help others along the way.
I wish you some peace, my friend, and hope that things are getting easier for you and yours.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. So glad you liked my image. I came over to see who you were. :) Not sure how you found me, but I'm glad you did. I really enjoyed this post. I have endured (been enduring) my own storm as well. I enjoyed your list of lessons learned.

God Bless!
