I really like vintage images and this one by artist Duane Bryers and she is called Big Hilda. I love that she is built like a size 14 and not a size 4 and that in all the images of her she is always laughing and poking fun at herself.

In the past 3 years past I have chosen a word each year to be the word I try to live by for that year. In past years I chose:

Abundance-2009
Revitalize-2008
Authentic-2007

This year I have chosen ENOUGH( occurring in such quantity, quality, or scope as to fully meet demands, needs, or expectations) for a variety of reasons. This past year has been a hard one for our family but we have come through it and I believe that in doing that I have come to know that enough is a good word. This word to me means that I may not have everything I want but I have enough love, family, food, friends, and the things I need to enjoy life in all of its ups and downs.
I hope to explore this word throughout the year.
What will your word be?

I am still determined to be cheerful and happy, in whatever situation I may be; for I have also learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends upon our dispositions, and not upon our circumstances.

I'm not sure what my word would be, or even if I could boil it down to just a word. But I guess it I had to do one word it would be "better". I think I can do better than I've done so far. And I want to improve myself and my life in 2010.

This is simply wonderful. I think we all need to make an "enough" rule -- but you are actually doing it!

Happy New Year!

What a great idea. A word for the year. I will have to put on my thinking cap and come up with a word. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I live in Picayune. Have a blessed day!

Glad you visited me this morning, Yolanda :)

When I saw your header title, I said to myself..."Self, this girl has common ground with you." AND then I saw Big Hilda - I knew we must have common's. I found Big Hilda a few months ago...she just makes me smile!! There are many prints done of her that I've found.

Now, about your post. What a great idea!!! I'm going to be praying for a Word that I should focus on. This is so much better than the crazy idea of resolutions!

So happy you popped in, I think I'll add myself to your list of followers :)

Hi Yolanda,

Thank you for visiting my blog. I'm so happy to meet you. I love this post. Enough is a word I've spent a great deal of time getting to know and understand and appreciate. My current word theme is gentle.

Where in the Pacific Northwest are you?

My church does several ceremonies in January, and one of them is finding/adopting a word or symbol for the year. Nothing special has occurred to me yet, but I know it'll arrive just in time. "Enough" is a very wise word.

I like the word enough! You know mine is release and it has already reared its head a couple of times.

I think my word this year will again be simplify. 2010 will certainly be a good year for pursuing simplification since I am retiring in six months.

I have to admire Big Hilda. I aspire to shrinking to a size 14. Talk about inspiration for the fridge door. :-)

I love this idea of picking a theme for the upcoming year. I think my theme might be "listen". There is so much inside of me that is begging to come to the surface and sparkle; I just need to listen.

Hi. I came in from Border Town Notes, curious about the title of your blog. Your motto for next year is perfect.

Enough is a good word. People would be much happier if they were satisfied with enough.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Come back anytime, the door is always open.

Amen, sista! this Ozarks farm chick knows that laughter is good medicine. I love the fact that you give the year a name, that's just priceless!

Have a wonderful New Year from the hills and hollers of the Ozarks and may God bless Ya'll!!!

Well, the dog is a size four.

"I live in McMinnville where we got 6 inches of snow today."

Good for you, I guess. I'm in Eugene. There's snow to the south of us and snow to the north of us, but no snow on us. Seeing that my left arm is in a sling after my second rotator cuff surgery of the year, I am quite for this.

My wife is an RN, but the way.

Thanks for visiting me. I love this post. I was thinking along those lines today while I was doing errands. I'll try to work on that idea soon!

I like the idea of choosing a word as you've done the past few years ... and methinks I'll be doing just that as I set intentions for 2010. May the new decade bring you and yours joyful opportunities and experiences!
Hugs and blessings,

That is THE most perfect word! Enough. Yes- that is a good one to think about. Put that way, I have so very much and you are right, it might not be what we want or as much as we want, but it IS enough. I love it! Thanks~
