The day started out here foggy and has remained so throughout the day.It seems as if everything is cloaked in a gossamer curtain. It seems sort of fitting as the year is slowly coming to a close and we peek around the corner of the curtain to the New Year.
I love New Years and the unwrapping of new calendars with days stretching forward waiting to be filled with hopes, dreams and life. I know it is just another day but I think we need days like this as sort of touchstones for life. I think they also allow us to see where we have been and where we are going .I think it allows us to excavate our souls like a bulldozer scraping away the hard packed ground of our lives allowing us to reveal who we are when no one else is around andwho we are behind the mask we show the world.
In this newly turned earth of our lives I think we see things we need to let go of and things we want to nurture and grow in the coming year.
I hope in the coming year to let go of my feelings of failure, perfectionism, and my need for acceptance by others and continue to understand I am okay just the way I am. I know growing up my mom knew I struggled with peer pressure and feel.ings of low self esteem and she bought me a plaque that said "I know I am somebody cause God don't make no Junk" and I know that is true . I hope in the coming year to nurture the things that need nurturing in my life and to Bloom
I will be working the next two days 12 hour shifts at the hospital so If I don't get back here to post please know that you are all blessing in my life and I wish you the best NEW YEAR EVER.

"We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day.”

Yes, Yolanda, you are always and already "enough." I too struggle with the perfectionist curse, but I find that it helps to laugh at myself when that impulse rears its ugly head. and sometimes I do something deliberately imperfect to prove to myself that it's okay! Happy, happy New Year!

Such inspiring words indeed! :o) I love your outlook. And the saying you mentioned rang back memories of a tshirt my step mom used to wear. :o) God is so good isn't He??
Thank you for your sweet words of encouragement you leave on my blog. :o) You, too, are a blessing I give thanks for, and looking forward to knowing you better in the new year!
Sincerely, Trish

"I know I am somebody cause God don't make no Junk"...wow...That's a confidence builder if ever there was! I think so many of struggle with feeling of not being enough, being good enough, no doing enough. Something I've learned through my years of Buddhist practice (and still learning!) is that we ARE good enough just as we are right now. A rather humorous quote by zen master Suzuki Roshi goes; "All of you are perfect just as you are and you could use a little improvement." We are all good now, just need some tweaking. ;o) Be your best self right now, it all will flow from there. I hope 2011 finds all of your dreams and wishes coming true, Yolanda. It is a joy to see you here. :o) Wishing you & yours much PEACE, LOVE & JOY in the New Year ((HUGS)) P.S. Many thanks for the birthday wishes at my place yesterday--bless you!

Yolanda,

Thank you so very much for your kind comments on my post about my own struggles with perfectionism. May we ALL have a year that brings us closer to realizing we are "enough" and so are others. I look forward to following you here as a new blog friend. Happy New Year.

I wish you the best of brand of a New Year. I thank you so much for sharing what you did, it speaks volumes to my soul. I always struggle to let go of those things too. You just put it so clearly.
Every time I come here I want to tell you it makes me so happy that one of your favorite books is Gift from the Sea, by Anne Morrow Lindbergh. I don't run into many people anymore who loved that book, so it makes me so glad you do.
I really loved Anne Morrow Lindbergh and her writing. Maybe that is why I like your writing, you make me reflect like she does/did.
Blessings to you, and yes, I loved your description of the fog, I will remember that tonight, in the fog.

I love that last quote as well,
and I don't know if you intentionally left the post untitled,
but that is perfect. Really.
Because it's all possibility?

Looking forward to sharing in the New Year, Yolanda,
thrilled to have connected.
