Time &Perspective

Time in youth
Creeping Slowly;
Expectation of the bright future.

at Middle Age;

Time is a thief
Moving ever swiftly;
Make every day count .

I don't know how well I did on this one but this topic of time has been on my mind a lot lately.
I know that these past four years have taught me after losing both my mom and dad that the older I get the more time flies swiftly and that isn't so much the things in life that I cherish but the memories and the people.I know that being a nurse if it has taught me anything it is has taught me to know that life is a gift and you can plan for the future but Live for today. You never know when a turn of the coin will place you where your patients are.
There are two songs that reference a life lived and how to cherish it by country artists which in my part of the country you hear on the radio all the time.One by Brooks and Dunn that uses this line"I can't believe that it all ends in a slow ride in a hearse" and the other song is by George Strait and it has a line that says "I never seen a hearse with a luggage rack." I think that both say the same thing in maybe more eloquent terms than my hakiu that life is for the living and it is up to us to choose how we use it .Do we waste it on the "might have beens,the when I have enough money,and the if onlys or do we grab it by the horns and say "I am going to enjoy it ".
The last choice is my choice. I know that my choice involves risk and change and chance but I would rather rust out than decompose in the same place where I have always been.

Please check out Jennifer's haiku and also the theme song post by Michelle both so connected with where I am in my life now.
