Yes We Can-VOTE

First, if you read this and live in a Super Tuesday state today I encourage to vote your beliefs whatever they maybe. Second, I have not decided yet who I will vote for but even so everytime I watch this video it speaks to me in the way Martin Luther Kings I Have A Dream speech does.I only know in November I will vote.

The reason the right to vote is so important to me is this. My grandparents were adults during the Great Depression and both of my parents grew up picking cotton in the cotton fields of the South alongside the african americans. They never worked at anything white collar just factory, farming and service jobs which are all noble professions because without those professions this country would surely be weaker. They all were true southern democrats who never voted Republican and they all thought FDR hung the moon.In this tradition I was registered to vote when I was 18 and was always taught that to vote was a right that you did not take lightly. I remember watching the political conventions in the 70's and 80's with my dad like we watched football on Sundays so it is deeply ingrained in me to always vote.I always have and always will.I vote for the person first and then the platform he stands for and lastly the party.

I truly believe that this country needs change and I believe that one vote though small when counted together with all our other fellow Americans can make our voices heard this November. I also know that no matter who wins this electionin November it will make history because either Obama or Clinton will be the democratic nominee.I know that my grandparents generation would have never thought that they would see the day that a woman and an African American were running for president. I think it is a good thing as it shows how far this country has come.

VOTE

Yolanda, thanks for stopping by. It's always nice to meet like-minded people!

What part of the Pacific NW are you in? I'm in the Tri-Cities.

Blessed be! Life is good.

Bravo for doing and bravo for posting about doing! I am hoping many are feeling hopeful about this election and they come out in droves to cast a ballot. It is quite an exciting time politically and politics does not usually inspire excitement in me.

Cool! I lived in Portland for 21 years until about a year ago. I have 2 nieces in Newberg. That's a great area. I'll be passing through in early March for a women's weekend in Newport.

I also remember how our foremothers fought and sacrificed to get us the right to vote--I take that right very seriously. I will be voting in Maryland's primary next week.

The close popularity of Clinton and Obama fascinates me. It's interesting to see the feelings of the country through these choices.

Thank you for sharing your history which is very similar to mine as well as points of view. I always vote too for the same reasons, with organized labor a big part of my past. Agreed it is an exciting ticket, either Dem. candidate, and at this point I want a strong candidate.
I agree with Rebecca, Life is Good!

We're watching the daily battle of Obama vs.Clinton. As you stated, this it truly new for America, first a women and then Obama representing another class. I wonder about this the election and it's impact on our nation.
