Peanut's Philosphy of LIfe and Mine Too!

IMG_0172

The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the "Peanuts" comic strip. You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just read straight through, and you'll get the point.

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America pageant.
4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.
5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.
6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:
1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.
4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.
5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with. Easier?

The lesson: The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials... the most money... or the most awards. They are simply the ones that care the most. Like Each of You who visit here.

"Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia."

I loved this when I recieved it from my nephew and thought I would share it here.

I added the comment moderation feature because I had started to get a lot of spam comments about various unsavory subjects.I also added a music player if you want to listen to it just click it to start. I didn't set it to do it automatically because I didn't know whether you liked it or not.

Again my deepest heartfelt thanks to each of you.

I also would like to do this and encourage each of you who feel inclined to do this on your blog.

Pay It Forward Challenge.

Here's a chance to get a surprise from me, on a surprise date, in the next 365 days. (I'm responding to this via The Urban Chic)

Here are the rules:
1.~Leave a comment on my blog that says you want to play. First three folks to comment will get a gift from ME. (If I don't know it already, let me know how I can contact you, an e-mail is fine.)

2.~Do the same thing on your blog! The first three folks who leave a comment and commit to doing this on their blog, too, will get a surprise from YOU at a surprise time in the next 365 days!

This should prove to be fun.....and interesting. This is a great way to make new friends too.....let's see what happens.

I love the photograph you used for this post. I'm with you and Charles Shultz on what matters. I had to laugh about the don't worry about the world coming to an end quote. That's a good one to keep in mind. Yep, it's always tomorrow somewhere.

Yolanda,

I just dropped by to thank you for praying for Michelle. Her surgery went very well and she is in much better spirits today. I will post another update tonight when I post for tomorrow. I appreciate your prayers.

As for the pay it forward, I am already participating. It will be a lot of fun and we have an entire year to do this.

Blessings,
Mary

I love this post. So very true ~ I didn't even hesitate to name my most important people, but didn't come up with a single name for the big achievers.

I am already participating in Pay It Forward also. I've got to get those gifts out! Good luck with yours~

Hi Yolanda,
Thanks for stopping by. I live in Silverton. Not far from you. I am so sorry about your sister in law. We have had so many deaths to close friends this winter I am weary with grief.. Spring is coming, I'm praying for 'better days'

Hi, Yolanda, and thanks for your visit and comment on my blog. :-)

I do love Charles M. Shultz's philosophy on life. True, so true!

I live in Bay, 5 miles south of Jonesboro in Northeast Arkansas. It's about 90 miles from Little Rock and 60 miles from Memphis. If you Google it you should be able to pull it up.

Have a great Thursday!

Hugs,

Diane

Love the kite at the beach! It reminds me of our recent trip to the Oregon Coast. Since you're from Oregon you know how much kites are a part of our beach life here.

The thoughts expressed by Peanuts are so true. We remember the things that are near and dear to us - not much of the 'big' things the world around us thinks are important.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and for leaving your sweet comments. The 'unique' bookstore is on the north side of the highway between the Sheridan/Willamina area and the casino. It's in an old, junky-looking warehouse-type building with a hardware store attached. Lots of junk and stuff around the outside but do they have books. Books and more books. New and used.

Please stop by my blog again soon. I'll be back here to see what you have to share.

Those persons who made my life better are spectacular people - and thanks so much for the reminder on how to put those people in the right perspective. The famous ones are great, but the personal ones are 'where it's at'!!

I do love your music player.. I listened to Sarah McLaughlin and then Gillian Welch/Alison Krauss. I absolutely love your taste in music. I do think we're soul sisters. :)

I just reviewed your posts over the last week. I was so sad to hear of the news of your sister-in-law.
It's hard to believe that while I'm out celebrating life with my family, you are grieving the loss of your father.
I have surely come to understand that there are no protected, neat little boxes of time which will not be invaded by a mixture of demands upon us.
Sending you love and Sunshine

I reviewed your postings over the last week. What a difficult week.
I'm out celebrating life one week, while you are grieving the loss of loved ones.
There are no neat little boxes of time which will not be invaded by a mixture of demands upon us.
Life is not like that.
Praying that you can refuel.

I just caught up reading your blogs over the past week. It's amazing how one can be celebrating life and on the other side one is grieving the loss of a sister-in-law and father.
Praying that you will be able to refuel.

Yolanda,
These are wonderful thoughts. Thanks for bringing all of life and this big world back into perspective. I can answer that second set of questions, no problem!

Your blog is beautiful, as ever.

Thanks for dropping by today.

Yolanda, I feel like I've been out of the loop with several people lately. Because of my schedule I haven't been around to read most of the blogs I normally check. I'm so sorry to hear about your sister in law. Grief comes in waves, doesn't it?

Did I tell you I am a native Oregonian? I fell in love with the Oregon coast the first time I saw it (two years old?) I'll always be a beach girl because of it. I love your photos!

Greetings from tomorrow!

Just to let you know I am thinking of you.

Such a beautiful post...a reminder to appreciate the people in our lives (and who've touched our lives), but also, a reminder that our own lives our important--even when we don't get the awards/recognition we hope to. Also--you never know what you may do or say that could forever affect another person--good or bad.

Your photographs are always breathtaking and this is no exception. Although I’ve used this series of questions with others in workshops myself, it’s good to be reminded of the message today ... so (as always) thanks for sharing. I love your blog and have met many interesting bloggers here by clicking on links in comments.
Hugs and blessings,

I'm a Schultz fan too - and I agree with your premise. That's why the acknowledgements page of my first novel thanks the people who influenced me, including my teachers, whom I named.
