I love this print that I found on Pinterest and which I could find a copy for my home.It so illustrates what I am about. If you don't know about Pinterest you need to check it out. It is like a virtual cork board of inspiration for meals, decorating, quotes, church ideas etc. You name it and it is there.

I grew up in a small town which is sometimes good and sometimes bad.The town I grew up in was less than a 1000 people and you knew everybody and their families and history and they knew yours. Its funny even in this modern age  we still keep up with people from where we grew up with via Facebook.I think that is one of  the good things about Facebook is that if you live away from where you grew up it allows you to keep up with those you knew and still care about.I know growing up in the south people identify you by who you are related to.Yesterday while checking Facebook I noticed a lot of updates about a young woman who is the daughter of a former classmate. She had been in a coma for a week after giving birth to a 1 week old baby and she passed away yesterday leaving also a small child. I feel so for this family and those children who will never know their mother.I ask that you keep the Frazier/O'Toole families in your prayers..

This young ladies passing (she was only 25) reminded me of how fleeting and fragile life is and how every moment good or bad is to be treasured as a gift.Life is a gift as I am reminded of everyday in my job as a nurse .

I have wanted for some time to start a One Thousand Gifts list after being inspired by Ann Voskamp on her blog A Holy Experience.I am going to start today on this as a reminder to Be Grateful for the life I've been given each day.

.
1.The beauty of a perfect fall day.
2.The rain of the fall leaves down during the winds like a shower of blessing
3. That I have a job
4.For my animals
5.For the friendliness and warmth of my fellow southerners
6. That I have roots in a place that rallies around its own during tragedy.
7. The sacrifice of the military and their families.
8.The joy of my animals greeting when I get home after working 12 hours
9.The smells and colors of fall.
10.The tradition of SEC football

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

girl, I will tell you this 1000 gifts is life changing. You will not go thru your day without thinking and thanking Jesus for what He has done for you. It is small book but took me FOREVER to read it because it is sooooo deep.

Ok, and what town are you from? I was from a very small community as well. In Oregon? I was from Powell Butte and went to school in Prineville. I am sorry for this loss, oh my gosh, that poor family, that poor baby, oh, I pray for this little one! Life is so fragile....

And your comment on my blog, CRACKED ME UP!!! No I have not seen it but I have informed all around me I am goind to have a party with myself and head to the theatre~hahahaahaha!

Yolanda, I love Ann Vosscamp. Do you follow her blog? Her blog is such a delight to read because she is so human. THough I haven't read her book, I plan on it soon.

A Holy Experience is the name of her blog. We should start our own group. Make sure you view the video in the side bar. It is so touching.

How very sad for that family, our daughter just had a baby 2 months ago...kind of stings when I think about that happening to her. - I went over to Ann Voskamp's blog and got all choked up reading about her visit with her dad. She's a powerful writer, isn't she? - I like the idea of One Thousand Gifts list, I should do it too, it would make me slow my hyper self down a bit. - Great post, I enjoyed it. xo

I love pinterest too....so addicting. I will look for you. I too grew up in a small town and still live in it here in south Alabama and I also keep up with everyone on FB. It seems to be the only way of staying connected these days...which is a good thing for me. I'm so sorry to hear about the young woman..such a loss for the baby and her family. I can't imagine. I will pray for them.
Thank you for the visit and please stop by again sometime.
Hugs to you and many blessings.

I really like this post and love the new look for your blog. I just checked out Pinterest because so many people had mentioned it. I am reading 1000 Gifts in chunks and love it, plus her blog. I hope you are settling in your new/old location.

Hi Yolanda,
Thanks so much for visiting my blog. What a treat to come and visit yours. Obviously you have much to offer to the blogoshpere, and I look forward to reading more.

Appreciated you mentioning the military on your list. My husband is retired Air Force. We go to Walter Reed Hospital for certain appointments. It is always such an honor to be surrounded by these young vets who have given us so much in our freedom, as they gave up their limbs, mental peace, and so much more.

Hope and pray you are encouraged on this day.

There is so much we can give be grateful for. I've started a list, too, and it's amazing how quickly my list grows. Thank you for sharing your list with us.

For many yeas Ikept an acutal gratitude journal, writing down at least five things each day for which I was grateful that day. I don't do that on paper now, but each night before I go to sleep, I do my five things. Some are so simple, some silly, some very big. And all perfect.
